Week 13: January 23, 2023 - January 27, 2023
The first week back was centered around covering the basics when it comes to physically being in the lab. For the most part, we went over safety and sanitation topics and new rules for the lab. We also went over the basics as far as the different equipment and tools that we are able to use on our own, as well as what requires supervision. Some of the safety and sanitation reminders we received were to make sure that we leave the lab as clean, if not cleaner, as we found it. This is not only out of respect for our peers and our lab, but also to avoid the spread of bacteria and to avoid any type of contamination within the lab. By keeping a clean environment, we keep ourselves and each other safe as well as ensuring that our experiments get the best results possible. Since pipettes are a big part of being in the lab, we spent time getting to know them.
